Dr Korgel is a faculty member in the Chemical Engineering department at UT Austin. He does Research in Materials and nano-technology; he also teaches multiple Chemical Engineering classes, notably Materials and Polymers. He was the first person W.R.I approached about developing the sanitary pad. Since then, he has helped guide us in our materials research to create a quality product.
“Women’s Relief Initiative R&D Team is working to solve important societal challenges that require increased availability, lower cost, and improved sustainability of materials. The work involves materials science and engineering, manufacturing, entrepreneurship and economics, policy, and international collaboration. These are all the things I teach in my classes. So, it’s been really rewarding to see these students taking the knowledge they’ve gained from their classes to now change the world. It’s inspiring, and I want to help them as much as I can to succeed.” – Dr. Korgel
